Allyson Nevard, L.Ac., MAOM

Licensed and Board Certified Acupuncturist and  Chinese Herbalist

I have been immersed in the world of Chinese medicine for years, first discovering it when living in Japan from 1995-1997. I received my Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) in 2004. I am now the professor of Chinese Herbal Formulas I and II for 2nd year graduate students at NESA. I also mentor other Chinese medical practitioners throughout the country.

I complete more than 100 hours of continuing education each year which is well over the 15 hour annual requirement. My mentor is Sharon Weizenbaum with whom I have been studying since 2012. I have been a teaching assistant in her post-graduate program, the Graduate Mentorship Program, since 2016. I have also spent over 100 hours this past year studying with Nadine Zach who specializes in the art of pulse taking, an important Chinese medical diagnostic tool.

Additionally, I have been studying and practicing Sa’am acupuncture under the tutelage of Toby Daly since 2020. This has allowed me to offer quick, dramatic results with as few as 4 needles.

Continual training is essential for any medical practitioner aspiring to understand the complex workings of the human body. My teachers and their teachings have been career transforming for me. This continuing education, the wisdom I gain from my own experience teaching at NESA, and my years of experience practicing this art are what set me apart in this field.

While I am a general practitioner, my experience as a former Division I athlete (Holy Cross College (1991-1995) contributes to my special interest in orthopedic acupuncture. My experience as a woman and mother contributes to my love of treating women's health issues.
